OpenText named a Leader in the 2026 IDC MarketScape for Intelligent CCM

Key strengths include native, prebuilt integrations, bundled CXP, and authoring and collaboration.

OpenText has once again been named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Intelligent Customer Communication Management 2026 Vendor Assessment, (#US54137426, September 2026).

We believe this recognition reinforces the company’s continued growth and the increasing adoption of its CCM solutions by global leading enterprises.

IDC MarketScape evaluated 13 vendors across the CCM landscape against 30 weighted criteria, spanning current capabilities and future strategy.

IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the competitive fitness of technology and suppliers in a given market. The research methodology utilizes a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of each supplier’s position within a given market. The Capabilities score measures supplier product, go-to-market and business execution in the short-term. The Strategy score measures alignment of supplier strategies with customer requirements in a 3-5 year timeframe. Supplier market share is represented by the size of the icons.

The next chapter of CCM goes beyond better-looking communications. It’s about connecting communications to the broader CX ecosystem.

We believe the IDC MarketScape is direct about what’s changed. CCM is no longer competing on who can generate the best-looking statement. We also believe the organizations that get the most out of the next generation of CCM will be the ones who evaluate vendors as partners instead of feature checklists. That includes looking at where CCM fits in the greater customer experience (CX) ecosystem.

Additionally, AI has moved out of the authoring window and into the machinery of the platform itself: governing identity and access, watching for compliance drift, migrating legacy templates, and increasingly running as autonomous agents that draft, check, and route communications with a human approving the outcome rather than authoring every step.

As Amy Machado, Research Director at IDC, noted: “OpenText Communications demonstrates how AI can touch nearly every part of the CCM platform, from authoring and personalization to administration, migration, and orchestration. That’s exactly why governance cannot be an afterthought.”

The IDC MarketScape noted key strengths:

  • Native, prebuilt integrations. OpenText’s integration strength is built on certified, prebuilt connectivity to core enterprise systems, including SAP S/4HANA, Salesforce, and Guidewire, letting customers generate and deliver communications that pull directly from transactional and customer data in these systems without a lengthy custom integration project. OpenText is also one of SAP’s Solution Extension (SolEx) partners, which means customers can procure OpenText™ Communications under a single SAP contract and invoice.
  • Bundled customer experience platform (CXP). OpenText Communications is bundled directly into its CXP Platform, Experience Cloud, giving business users a connected view of the customer experience. This includes omni-channel messaging, customer journey orchestration, digital asset management, and document accessibility.
  • Authoring and collaboration. OpenText’s persona-driven content authoring environment enables business users to design, author, and collaborate on content natively across every communication type. Built-in simulation capabilities let users test and validate output for any intended channel, managing content in the context of its final delivery format with the kind of design functionality typically reserved for dedicated design tools—all while keeping users focused on their intended goals.

The IDC MarketScape recommends considering OpenText when: “Upper midmarket and enterprise organizations with high-volume output should consider OpenText for its end-to-end customer communications management, customer journey capabilities, and native integration support. It can meet global scale and data sovereignty requirements with hosting in every region, and supports any deployment model, including on-premises.” For enterprise organizations, these capabilities provide a foundation for modernizing CCM, simplifying communications, and delivering more connected customer experiences at scale.
