Enterprises are increasingly dealing with more content, from more sources, with more intended uses – and a requirement to access it all on demand. These demands can be challenging for organizations to manage, and to gain a foothold in connecting and extracting value from all of this unstructured information.

The OpenText™ Extended ECM platform integrates Enterprise Content Management (ECM) into most lead business applications to bridge content silos, and connect content with the people and processes across the enterprise that need it. This increased information flow helps organizations improve insight, efficiency and governance.

The new release of OpenText Extended ECM Release 16 Enhancement Pack 5 (EP5) continues to push the boundaries on how content can be used to elevate process-driven business systems. Here are a few of the top innovations:

Empower mobile workers to engage in business processes on-the-go

A mobile workforce needs access to critical information on-the go to perform tasks outside of the four walls of the organization, and some of this content needs to be accessed inside of connected business systems. By combining Extended ECM with OpenText™ Content Server Mobile, you’ll get always-on, mobile access to content managed in business workspaces. Plus, you can instantly access workspaces by scanning QR codes, manage and interact with important documents and metadata, collaborate with other team members and participate in the business process. With this release, organizations can gain important insight into business process related content on mobile devices from anywhere, allowing for a more agile, and connected workforce.

You can watch this video demo to see how Content Server Mobile enables a field worker to complete a service workflow initiated from activity happening in an Extended ECM business workspace.

Placing intelligent automation control in the hands of business owners

Previously, automating tasks like document generation and reacting to newly created objects in leading applications was primarily managed by involving a developer. Now, using the newly developed Event Action Center, business administrators can automate process tasks, combining events with data-based rules to generate these same documents, update workspaces and start workflows.

Also, action plans can be configured to automatically kick-off events that are initiated or published from lead business applications or via an internal Extended ECM system. This additional automation saves time and enables more effective processes.

Accelerate Extended ECM deployments by rolling out business workspaces up to 20 times faster

In the past, deployments of Extended ECM have typically taken significant time due to the performance demands of the initial load of new workspaces. With Extended ECM EP5, the time needed for the initial load and bulk import has been drastically reduced with the new workspace bulk creation framework.

EP5 introduces a new bulk creation framework for workspace creation that processes a group of workspaces within a single thread and accelerates the initial load in rollout projects. In addition, basic Extended ECM configuration is now transportable using a single tool, the Transport Warehouse tool. You can collect categories, classifications, workspace types, templates and business object in a transport workbench to transport the Extended ECM configuration across the system landscape.
