OpenText™ Core Analytics Database (Vertica Database as a Service) is a brand new cloud-based managed database offering that helps organizations minimize compute resources for total control over each analytical workload. With Core Analytics Database, organizations get a unified cloud database platform with high-performance SQL and Python analytics and built-in machine learning perfect for many workloads.

With the latest 24.4 release, we are introducing a brand new browser based query editor. This new query editor allows you to quickly get started building and executing queries and workloads against your data.

This new native query editor comes with the following features:

  • Browser based interface for writing and executing SQL queries against your Vertica database.
  • Add your most used queries to a persisted favorites list for use at any point in time
  • View a query history for all users over the last two weeks
  • Expand your workspace by building and executing your queries across multiple tabs
  • View query execution metrics: Total row count, total data size retrieved and total execution time
  • View a sample of up to 5k records returned by your queries
  • View and search through your database objects, schemas, tables, and views
  • Support for Vertica’s more than 650 built-in analytical functions, including time series, event pattern matching, geospatial, and in-database ML functions

OpenText Core Analytics Database: Reducing Complexity

One of the primary goals of our new DBaaS product, OpenText Core Analytics Database, is to reduce the complexity for customers to get started using the powerful analytics capabilities of OpenText Vertica. One of the ways we have done this is by eliminating the need for users to worry about the overhead and complexity with deploying and manage their Vertica analytics database environment in the cloud.

The other key success metric is improving the total time it takes from database deployment to first query executed on your data. With the previous releases the team covered the automated configuration, management, and deployment of the database and AWS Kubernetes environment.

After successful migration of data from an existing database to OpenText Core Analytics Database’s storage, we have heard from users that the next challenge they face to get started quickly would be a SQL tool integration. In the 24.4 release the team decided to tackle this challenge in the analytics user journey by building a query editor right into the product’s UI natively. By doing so, users can automatically connect to their database and start to query their data without needing to spend the time to configure a supported external SQL tool.
