Many organizations continue to struggle to find a balance between satisfying their users – who want their tools to be simple, intuitive, and easy to use – and meeting the needs of the enterprise to extract business value from the vast amount of information created by numerous sources, systems and platforms.

OpenText™ Content Suite Release 16 EP7 and OpenText™ Extended ECM Release 16 EP7, which are now cloud-native and fully containerized for modernized deployment and management, are designed to balance ease of use while meeting your organization’s needs. New Smart View enhancements give the user a more intuitive experience, resulting in increased productivity and better collaboration. In addition, important advancements in intelligent automation continue to remove manual configuration and streamline business processes.

User experience and productivity enhancements to Smart View

In this release, we’ve expanded the capabilities of Smart View around user experience, productivity and collaboration. We continue to close the gap between the capabilities and features of the Classic UI and the Smart View, including re-designing features and processes to be more intuitive, providing a better user experience.

Smart View usability

    • Faster browse performance and display of Business Workspace
    • Upload files faster and easier by dragging and dropping entire folders
    • Screen space layout has been optimized for expanded widgets
    • Control of search-based Records Management Disposition
    • Ability to multi-select Records Management features
    • New capabilities to manage roles, permissions and relationships for Business Workspaces

Productivity

    • Workflow steps can now be used to create Business Workspaces
    • Workflows can now be initiated from the Recently Accessed widget, Business Workspaces and Compound Documents
    • Personal reminders allow users to quickly create tasks that they can assign to themselves
    • Reminders can be assigned to groups, improving team collaboration
    • Advanced search now supports pattern searches for email addresses, user mentions and hashtags in full text

Collaboration

    • DocuSign®, the third-party service, is now available as a workflow step
    • Improve collaboration with users outside your organization using the new extended manager roles and audit and enhanced synchronization capabilities offered in OpenText Core Share

Intelligent automation

Advancements in intelligent automation continue to remove manual configuration and tasks to streamline business processes. Users get greater autonomy and automation for content-related processes, providing the ability to kick off multiple content driven process action jobs happening at the same time. This eliminates manual actions for greater efficiencies while also reducing risk and costly errors.

Workflow

    • DocuSign®, the third-party service, is now available as a workflow step
    • Workflow steps can now be used to create Business Workspaces
    • Workflows can now be initiated from the Recently Accessed widget, Business Workspaces and Compound Documents
    • Personal reminders allow users to quickly create tasks that they can assign to themselves

Event Action Center

    • Asynchronous processing mode automates multiple content-driven process action jobs happening at the same time, eliminating manual tasks for greater process efficiencies
    • New Events (from SAP® SuccessFactors®): Hire & Rehire, Add Global Assignment
    • New action to create or update Workspace

Mobile

    • Suggest matching workspace for emails created by Content Server Mobile—automatically enabled, no configuration required

Cloud readiness for modern deployment and management

We continue to work towards full cloud capabilities as promised for the CE release in April 2020. This means organizations will have the ability to run fully containerized versions of Content Suite Platform and Extended ECM Platform either in the cloud or on-premises.

Cloud readiness

    • Sample Docker images and deployment scripts are now provided to help customers develop their own Kubernetes and Docker deployment procedures
    • Deployment automation coverage has been extended to allow over 500 configuration settings to be exported, imported and scripted
    • System Center now supports synchronization of updates, patches and language packs across managed environments

Management and administration

    • Usability features for transport have been enhanced (e.g. refreshing the Transport package contents and selecting multiple objects to add to the Transport system)
    • File type restrictions are now available for uploads based on type or name patterns
    • Best Bets can be configured to eliminate stale values which helps to improve the relevance of promoted search results
    • Search index recovery tools allow a restored index to be updated with the incremental changes that were applied since the last backup date
    • Collection contents can now be deleted
