Micro Focus is proud to announce our global commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges facing our world today. Severe climate disruption, a result of global warming, impacts everyone and everything – and disproportionately affects the poorest and most vulnerable communities, amplifying global inequality.
The science shows that to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, business, government and society need to work together to transition to a net zero economy by 2050. It is a collective effort, and we all have a role to play in building a sustainable future where we can all thrive.
Our commitment to reducing the company’s global scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions to “net zero” by 2050 is aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative’s emission reduction pathway to keep global warming within 1.5°C, the most ambitious goal of the Paris Agreement.
As a start, we will double down on reducing energy usage and carbon emissions in our offices and data centres, and expedite our move to electric company-owned and leased vehicles. In parallel, we are looking at how we can reduce carbon emissions in our supply chain, business travel, and the carbon footprint of the lifecycle of our products and solutions, which is becoming increasingly important for our customers and partners.
This is a major milestone for us as a company and a key element of our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) programme, Micro Focus INSPIRE.
Achieving our net zero goal will take a team effort which includes collaboration with employees, customers, partners and suppliers – we must all take steps within our roles to make a positive impact on our planet.
