What’s new in EP3 for the Ecosystem

Ecosystem releases

Wow – it was almost exactly 6 months ago that I wrote about the launch of our EP2 solutions for the Ecosystem (SAP, Microsoft, Salesforce and Oracle) and here we are, ready for the EP3 launch.

Most of the products in the Ecosystem received major update in the EP2 launch, so this one features only four major EP3 solutions – the rest have been steadily receiving new Service packs over the course of the last few months. The presentation at the end of this blog highlights some of the key features launched in the Service Packs.

The two main themes of this release from the Ecosystem point of view are:

Extended ECM For Engineering

Extended ECM for Engineering was formally known as Engineering Document Management and has been moved and productised into the Ecosystem / xECM vertical solution family recently, joining xECM For Govt, xECM for Process Suite, along with partner offerings for Microsoft Dynamics and others currently being created.

Extended ECM for Engineering is an add-on to the core xECM Platform allowing efficient control risk to engineering project scope, schedule, and costs. This enables owner-operators and engineering companies to gain faster returns on investment by speeding time to first production and enabling efficient asset operations.

Smart and Fiori* enabled user interfaces

*In case you’re wondering Fiori means flower in Italian

As with the EP2 release, our other main driver was to fully support the SAP Fiori user interface designs for all aspects of the different user personas within our solutions. This was something we started around the milestone 16 Release with our Smart UI and adoption of Smart UI and Fiori.

EP3 releases

Vendor Invoice Management, S4Cip and Business Center

VIM has a number of key decisions made around the product’s direction as follows: In conjunction with SAP we have developed a solution called SAP S/4HANA Cloud for invoice processing by OpenText – which is a Public Cloud variant of VIM sold by SAP on a subscription model. We also have the core VIM product which features both a classic and Fiori view of invoice processing and management. And in Business Center we have fully enabled Fiori support, added additional starter packs for Remittance advice and Order Confirmation, and also enabled OCR Cloud support.

Extended ECM for Government and Extended ECM for Engineering

xECM for Government and xECM for Engineering both use the xECM platform as a base layer for functional services and then add vertical aligned capabilities, metadata, structures and other organisational objects. In the case of xECM for Government this includes Cases and Electronic Records structures. For Engineering, this includes specific Engineering Document features like Automatic numbering. As well as these features, Fiori and Smart UI support and some accessibility improvements were added for xECM For Government.

Other product and capability launches

Whilst the products above were featured for the EP3 launch that’s not all we’ve been doing. For all the other products we have been releasing Service Packs on a regular basis.

Full details of what’s new in each product, plus a reminder on the new features that we launched into the products over the last few Service Packs are in the presentation below.
