Bigger and better: OpenText at SAPPHIRE NOW 2018

SAPPHIRE NOW 2018 in Orlando - 5th to 7th June

SAPPHIRE NOW 2018 is rapidly approaching. In just over a week OpenText will once again be attending and presenting at SAPPHIRE NOW and as always this year is bigger and better than ever before.

We will be celebrating winning the Pinnacle Award for SolEx partner of the year for the 11th year running. To put this achievement into perspective – no organisation has won for this consistent a period of time. SAP® has over 24,000 partners and awarded 29 Pinnacle Awards this year. A truly great achievement to demonstrate this level of success of such a period of time. Congratulations of course to the other nominees as well.

As well as celebrating the Pinnacle Award, we will also be launching 2 new cloud solutions for SAP – bringing the total number of cloud solutions to 8. Without spoiling the press release, I can tell you that these are 2 of our most strategic products, and we believe that these products will become a key part of any SAP customers’ journey to the cloud, by offering intelligent and connected services securely with OpenText Cloud.

We are running (at the time of writing) 9 Round Table sessions. These sessions cover most of the line of business areas within an organization such as workforce, customer, supplier, cloud, finance and core. Customer’s speaking include HollyFrontier, Rockport, Celestica, Valero, CenterPoint Energy and Siam Cement Group. Places are limited for these valuable customer driven sessions. Register to now to download a 2 page agenda of all our sessions.

In addition to the customer roundtables, we are hosting a further 15 sessions throughout the event, ranging from customer joint presentations, Onyx sessions, and a session given by OpenText explaining how we have implemented SAP solutions for HR, expenses and transformation of key processes in finance and customer renewals department.

Onyx session – drones and rich media in the context of your business processes

One of our Onyx sessions is regarding the use of new technologies emerging in the enterprise such as commercial UAVs or drones. These new technologies allow enterprises to gather and collect massive amounts of new information which is going to take exotic forms like ultra high definition video, LiDar measurements, infrared scanning with focal point temperature and many others.

Of course, this new type of media provides a challenge in how to manage it effectively and properly. Simply storing on a file server will not allow intelligence to be gained from the asset, and potentially it will be stored and forgotten about. Even in an enterprise content management solution, a high definition video will only not be managed properly (its not efficient to download a file that could measure terabytes in size every time you want to review something).

However, enterprises that recognize the wealth of information these drones are able to collect are finding ways to combine this data and rich media with their core SAP processes, whether it be plant maintenance, real estate management & facilities, linear assets, etc., the opportunities and benefits of embracing this new source of information are substantial.

For organizations who are still on the fence when it comes to how they will choose to leverage drones within the enterprise, now is a good time to start to take a closer look at what some of the innovative ways in which sensor-laden drones can transform key processes. For many customers, the most logical path will consist of leveraging external parties who provide Drone as a Service offerings; for others, they will assemble and train individuals to become certified drone pilots to meet the needs of the organization.

A critical component to establish up front is the platform for these rich media assets to be managed. When it comes to selecting this, platform, it’s important to consider the benefits of connecting this information along with all of the additional data to SAP where it can become a part of the digital core as well as enable end users with the ability to access and consume the video within SAP, in the context of the business process they are performing.

If you are attending SAPPHIRE NOW and want to learn more about how to start your journey and understand more about what’s possible with SAP and OpenText or attend the session entitled, IoT in Practice: Managing Drone & other Video Applications within SAP on Wednesday, June 6th at 3:00pm at theatre 4 on the exhibit hall floor.

Finally of course we have our usual collection of field experts at the OpenText stand, ready and waiting to answer any questions and drill down into any value or technical discovery, understand our latest releases, our roadmaps and our strategic direction. So if you are attending SAPPHIRE NOW – please come and visit us, learn about our solutions (including the new cloud ones) and let us help you to Run Digital, Run Cloud.
