Analytics experts: Find technical deep dives at Enterprise World

Developers using OpenText Analytics to create new data-driven applications will find plenty to learn and try at Enterprise World, July 10-13 in Toronto.

Between in-depth presentations  and hands-on opportunities to test-drive our software in the Innovation Lab and Developer Lab , you can check out all the modules and latest features of the OpenText™ Analytics Suite, plus our hot new artificial intelligence-powered platform, OpenText™ Magellan.

Although you probably can’t talk to the person who built your house or coded your favorite mobile phone game, here at least you can talk directly to the people who design and update the OpenText applications you use every workday. Get expert answers to your questions!

For an overview of the theory behind our exciting new developments, start with the track keynote:
Artificial Intelligence: What’s Possible for Enterprises Today

Tuesday, July 11, 1 p.m.

No longer just an abstract research topic, artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as an effective tool to guide and multiply the power of human decision-making in real-world applications, so that fast-growing Big Data sources don’t outstrip our capacity to understand and use them. Enterprises in every line of work, from finance and healthcare to consumer goods, are investing in AI to streamline and even reinvent their business models.

In this session, Forrester Research Vice President & Principal Analyst Mike Gualtieri will demystify AI technologies such as machine learning and discuss current use cases that are relevant to any enterprise. Gualtieri will show how AI-enhanced analytics can help users by summarizing information, spotting patterns, automating routine tasks, and making accurate predictions. This holds the promise of speeding up operations, reducing overhead, cutting costs, reducing risk, enhancing the customer experience, and maximizing revenue.

ANA-204 Five Reasons Not to be Afraid of Machine Learning

Tuesday, 4:10 p.m.

If you are worried that artificial intelligence may destroy us all (shades of HAL or Skynet!), or maybe it seems too difficult to understand, this session will set your mind at ease. We’ll walk through five reasons not to be afraid of machine learning and the algorithms that drive it. You don’t need to be a data scientist to understand how these data analysis techniques can help you solve business problems.

ANA-300 Analytics API’s: A Special Kind of Magic

Thursday, 4:10 p.m.

Science-fiction writer and futurist Arthur C. Clarke once said, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” With this in mind, author, magician, and analytics expert John Ward will use his unique approach of “Educating, Entertaining, and Engaging” attendees as he demonstrates the various API’s in the OpenText Analytics products. Attendees will learn about the various API’s, what they do, and how they can be used to add a little “razzle-dazzle” to an analytics solution.

ANA-301 Natively Analytical Devices: The Evolution of IoT/Edge Analytics

Thursday, 11:10 a.m.-12:00 noon

Today’s IoT (Internet of Things) deployments have illuminated the need for true “Edge Analytics,” or analytics that occur close to the devices or sensors themselves. Learn how OpenText software empowers IoT deployments, enabling Edge Analytics to deliver insights in real-world applications where it’s needed the most and where businesses are actually making their money…where the transactions are occurring.

Innovation Theater: Shorter, snack-size presentations

Don’t have time for the full one-hour version of these sessions? We’ve also got shorter (20-minute) “Solution in Action” versions of these exciting topics at the Innovation Theatre. For example:

Solution in Action: Algorithms Power Machine Learning

Tuesday, 11:50 a.m.-12:10 p.m.
(Highlights of “Five Reasons Not to Be Afraid of Machine Learning,” ANA-204).

Solution in Action: Wearable Dashboards

Wednesday, 2:50-3:10 p.m.

More than any other computing channel or device, smartwatches provide instant insights. Using OpenText Analytics REST APIs, developers can quickly create smartwatch apps that deliver timely analytics content for the enterprise right to your wrist.

Solution in Action: Sentiment Analysis

Tuesday, 1:50-2:10 p.m.; repeats Thursday, 3:20-3:40 p.m.

How long would it take your team to analyze the meaning and sentiment of your thousands of Twitter feeds and valuable customer feedback, the millions of insightful reports and all your other unstructured data sources? Months?… Years?… That’s why we’ve built algorithms to do this in hours! Find out how, by joining our Sentiment Analysis talk.

Solution in Action: Life Sciences Analytics

Thursday, 10:20-10:40 a.m.

A fortunate consequence of emerging regulatory obligations and industry standards is the compilation of vast amounts of data, which can be additionally leveraged to enable quality and innovation across the life sciences enterprise. How can organizations extract additional value in a challenging market and create competitive differentiation by utilizing this opportunity?

Developer Lab Lets You Go Hands-On

We’re offering some great live, hands-on technical presentations in the Developer Lab. Developers can play around with the many features and configuration options of OpenText Analytics tools; all you need is a laptop with a web browser.

Because our analytical tools use the REST API, they operate smoothly in any environment or operating system, says Virgil Dodson, director of the OpenText Analytics developer community, who will be presenting at Enterprise World.

In the Developer Lab, check out these three presentations:

  • Understanding Your Data with OpenText  Analytics
Learn how to get the most value out of your big data, in the shortest period of time, with the least amount of effort. Focusing on sales and CRM functions, attendees will use the advanced analytics features of the OpenText Analytics Suite  to do smart segmentation of a customer database, cross-sell and upsell analysis, next best offer, campaign management, forecasting and predictive analytics, social media sentiment analysis, and much more.
  • Developer Productivity Using Analytics Design Functions
The OpenText Analytics Suite lets you create report designs easily with a drag-and-drop environment – but when your requirements get complex, advanced features are right at your fingertips. You’ll get a hands-on introduction to the design functions  of OpenText Analytics, including programmable expressions, re-use with libraries, conditional formatting, and customization with scripting. Then take a crack at designing your own reports.
  • Building Analytics Applications
Users are demanding information from every device they own, including computers, smartwatches, and phones. OpenText Analytics APIs, including JavaScript and REST, provide a quick and powerful way to create data-driven web, mobile, and wearable applications. Learn about the integration APIs available and see how to connect to the visualization server at the heart  of the OpenText Analytics Suite from web, phone, and smartwatch applications; execute analytic designs ; and get and render data on the devices.

The Future’s Under Construction in the Innovation Lab

As time permits, drop in to our Innovation Lab.  That’s where we’re demonstrating brand-new features and designs for many of our product groups.  This is your chance to test out and evaluate these innovative new features and collaborate with OpenText user experience designers and researchers.

For Analytics, check out:

OpenText Analytics Studio: Enhanced iHub data provisioning.
OpenText Magellan: Web and social media crawler. (There will also be several Innovation Theatre Solution in Action presentations highlighting Magellan’s social media analytics capacities.)

OpenText Analytics Loves Developers

The wide range of technically focused offerings at Enterprise World is just part of a larger move at OpenText Analytics to provide more resources for developers and users of our solutions and BIRT, the open-source business intelligence tool at the core of the Analytics suite.

“We have the richest resources anywhere for BIRT developers – thousands of people visit our developer site,” Dodson says. There, they’ll find forums packed with user-generated comments, tips, and tricks, as well as staff-generated articles and guidance.
